Jammu: Indian and Pakistani troops Monday shelled each other’s border outposts with Mortar’s at several places in Jammu and Kashmir’s Arnia sector.
According to officials mortar firing from across the border started around 0700 hours in Arnia sector of Jammu
“Pak started Mortar firing in the general area of Arnia today morning around 0700 hrs. BSF BOPs VIKRAM, CHINAZ and JABOWAL are presently affected. Similar fire may take place in other areas too,” officials told INS.
Officials also claimed that 80mm and 120mm motor shells are being used and residential areas and nearby villages are being targeted.
“The unprovoked shelling and firing starting spontaneously and villagers are trapped inside,” they said.
They said that one Darshana Devi wife of Tarlok Singh and Mohinder Kumar son of Hans Raj both Pindi charkan kalan were shifted to Hospital by Arnia police after they suffered splinter injuries.
Last night, Pakistani troops fired small arms and mortars, targeting Narayanpur area of Ramgarh sector in Samba district, hours after a meeting with the BSF to stop firing.
Two BSF soldiers were killed in the latest round of cross border firing along the IB in Jammu region since May 15.
Four civilians were also killed and 11 others injured on Friday in cross border stalemate.
