Residents of Ajas area of Bandipora District in Northern Kashmir here are demanding establishment of Degree College in the area while threatening Government to face protests ‘if they fail to do’.

Protests too were organised by the residents under the Banner of Civil society Ajas protest to press the government over their demands of establishment of Degree College in the area.

Residents including youth, senior citizens, Activists of the area gathered and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.The protesters were carrying placards which reads, We want Degree College.

“We will fight for our rights in a peaceful manner until government fulfill our demands,” said Secretary cS Imran Rather.
According to Rather  degree college has been sanctioned to Tulail, Gurez which even doesn’t fall in the criteria and Ajas which falls in criteria is ignored by the govt.

“We will launch agitation if Govt fails to fullfill our demand, we will close the Srinagar-Bandipora road till our demand is not fulfilled”, he added.

“Ajas is Largest Congested Tribal Populated area,” he claimed.

Protesting residents claim that despite assurances from CM to acknowledge the demand for Degree College in the area. “They sanctioned college for Tulail instead for Ajas, which is Unfortunate”, Chairman Civil society Mohammad Kamal said.

Protestors appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Education to look into the matter personally.

Earlier a delegation of residents of Ajas Bandipora and adjacent areas called on the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and brought issue of Degree College for Ajas area into her notice.
