Srinagar: BJP, ruling partner in government,  appointed Ravindra Raina as president of its Jammu and Kashmir unit.

Raina’s predecessor Sat Sharma was inducted into the PDP-BJP government as a minister—Housing and Urban Development.

BJP president Amit Shah appointed Raina, an MLA from Noushera Assembly segment who was head of the state BJP youth wing.

Soon after the 12th Legislative Assembly of state came into form, Raina had triggered a controversy when he took the oath in the name of Mata Vaishno Devi, drawing objections from the opposition.
