Reports claiming schools to remain open on Holidays is fake news, say officials

Srinagar: There are no plans to keep educational institutions open on Gazetted holidays and Sundays, a top official in the Education ministry said on Saturday.

The official privy to decision making in the Education ministry refuted news reports as ‘fake and rumor’ who have claimed that the education department is mulling to keep schools open on gazetted holidays and Sundays.

“There is no such order and no such plans in the education department,” top official, wishing not to be named, told INS.

He called such news reports as baseless, rumours and fake news items.

News reports had claimed that schools will remain open on these occasions as well to complete the days of working lost to shutdowns and government ordered closures of educational institutions.

Reports had claimed that order in this matter too has been issued by the directorate of School Education Kashmir , however the claim has been denied by the officials of the department.

“No such order has been passed,” an official at the DSEK said.
