While heavy deployment of forces is in place at various city entering points and old city were restrictions remain in place.

JRL comprising of syed Ali Geelani, Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have called for a complete shutdown against killing of militants and civilians during anti militancy operation in south kashmirs Shopian district on Sunday. JRL has also called for a march towards the civil secretariat in Srinagar as well.
Some of the dead civilians are from another district Islamabad as well who according to local correspondent had travelled all the way to join protests around the encounter site to help holed up militants to escape.
Five militants and five civilians were killed on Sunday including a Kashmir University Assistant Professor M Rafi Bhat from Ganderbal, who had joined militant ranks just 40 hours back, before being gunned down.
Class work at Kashmir University has been suspended on May 7 and 8 (Monday and Tuesday), and have also postponed all examinations scheduled to be held on these two days.
Fresh dates shall be notified separately, later, a KU spokesperson said.
The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora has decided to suspend class work and suspend all examinations scheduled for Monday.
The Srinagar administration has imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in areas under 7 police stations on Monday: Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, MR Gunj, and partial restrictions in Maisuma and Kralkhud.
