Kupwara: Family of Manzoor Ahmad Ganaie, whose body was found in Warsun Kralpora orchards on 13 April, protested here on Thursday demanding killers to be brought to justice while accusing family of a girl he was in relationship with of ‘murder’.
Family members, relatives and neighbours of Manzoor blocked Srinagar-Kupwara road.
Protesters accused police for not speeding up probe into the incident saying ‘police seems less serious in this case’.
According to protesting family members of Manzoor, he was in relationship with a local girl.
“We approached the girls family with a marriage proposal but they refused,” they said.
Both, Manzoor and the girl, were in constant contact to each other and on April 12 they talked to each other till midnight, they claimed.
“On April 13 morning we did not find him in his room,” they said.
Family alleges that Manzoor was asked by girls family members to visit them during midnight.
Early in the morning we received a call from ‘girl’s father asking to come and take Manzoor’s body’.
“He might have been poisoned by the girls family,” family members of Manzoor alleged.
Aggrieved family members said that even though Police promised a speedy investigation ‘but 13 days have passed nothing substantial has been done to nab the culprits’.
“ We demand accused involved in this murder to be arrested and face stern law for killing my son,” father of the victim Satar Ganaie told INS.
“My son was brutally killed by them (Girls Family) for having relationship with their daughter. This was his only fault and that’s why my son is in grave today,” wailing mother of Manzoor said.
Police officials assured the family of Manzoor that there will be a fastrack probe into the incident and ‘anyone found involved will face the law.’
According to police sources the place were Manzoor’s body was found belongs the girls family.
“FSL report is awaited in the case. That will give us more details about the crime,” police official wishing not to be named said.
