Srinagar, A Storytelling session was conducted for creating awareness on Substance Abuse as a part on ongoing campaign SAAM. The Inner Call in collaboration with Central University of Kashmir is observing a month-long campaign on substance abuse under the acronym SAAM, held a Short Story Reading Session (Mehfil-i-Afsaana) supported by J&K Fictions Writers’ Guild.
The Session was presided by Jenab.Wehshi Sayed and the guests of honor where Mr. Bashir Arif and Prof.Nusrat Andrabi.
Five Stories where read in the session;One in English and two each in Urdu and Kashmiri. Dr. Nazir Mushtaq presented his Urdu story ” Main Nashain May Hoon” whereas Ms.Mahapara read her English short story “ The Treasure Map”. Ms. Rafia Wali, presented her Urdu story ” lizzat. whereas Mr. Mohi-ud-Din Rishi, presented his story” Daa “in Kashmiri. Mr. Bashir Arif presented his story in Kashmir titled “Waris” All the stories were written on the thematic issue of Substance Abuse and in support of the ongoing campaign SAAM, initiated by The Inner Call.
Ms. Roma Wani, Chairperson, The Inner Call, in her address explained the importance of creating awareness in the society about the growing menace of substance abuse and how creative art could play a major role in creating awareness on all social issues that exist in modern day society. She thanked the august gathering for their support.
Jenab Wehshi Sayed, Patron, J&K Fictions Writers’ Guild said that he was really thrilled that the on 131st sessions the guild has associated itself with a social issue in collaboration with The Inner Call and offered his continued support in future.
Various other speakers highlighted the importance of awareness on social issues and the role played by creative members of society in bringing change. The session was attended by prominent writers, artists, and social activists.
