Kathua case: Police tear gas Sopore Degree college to thwart protests, clashes going on

Protests erupt in Sopre degree college, students clashes with police

Sopore: Clashes erupted in Sopore between students and police after students of Degree college tried to take a demonstration over Kathua rape and murder of a minor. Police according to eye witnesses tear gassed the campus of the college.

Local sources told INS that the students who were staging a demonstration and demanding justice to the minor raped and murdered in Kathua clashed with the government forces.

Pic of the degree college which was filled with tear gas smoke after protests erupted over Kathua rape and murder case. Police thwarted the students move to come on roads.

Education institution opened after a week in the district while many others in other districts have been ordered to remain shut.

‘Police thwarted the move of students to come out on roads and pushed them back into the campus. Police fired tear gas shells inside the college premises leading to chaos in the college,” they said.

Clashes are ongoing, details awaited.
