According to SSP Samba Anil Mangotra people had brought the dead cow and put on the Pathankote-Jammu highway leading to massive traffic jam.

“The cow was found on a link road between Bhishna and Samba. Investigation is going on,” Mangotra told INS.

As the protests grew larger Chandra Prakash Ganga, of BJP, who recently resigned over his stand in Kathua rape and murder case, came to pacify the protesters.

“People stone pelted Ganga and police which lead to massive chaos,” local sources said.

Police swung into action and took the dead cow in its possession and restored the traffic on Pathankote-Jammu Highway.

“Internet was snapped due to this incident in Kathua, Samba and Jammu,” SSP Samba said.
