Post Friday Prayers Clashes in Sopore

Sopore:  Clashes erupted at Super Bazaar and byepass  area of Sopore soon after Friday congregational prayers between stone throwing youth and government forces.

The protesters clashes with govt forces and pelted stones and police retaliated by tear gassing them to disperse the agitated youth.

Eyewitness said that a youth was also arrested during clashes in the area.

JRL had asked people to hold demonstration after Friday prayers in order to express sympathy and solidarity with the family members of the youth killed by forces action.

Meanwhile a complete shutdown was observed in Sopore with all the shops and commercial establishments were closed in the town while as public transport was also off the roads.

It is pertinent to mention here that four civilians were killed during clashes in South Kashmir’s Kulgam on Wednesday.
