Sources Told INS that Abdul Gaffar and his son Manzoor Ahmad Bhat were abducted by suspected militants from their house in Hajin. While Abdul Gaffar managed to escape even after being fired upon his son was taken away.

Later police statement  of the incident seconded INS sources, which reads that “At about 11:45 pm (on Wednesday), in Hajin area of Bandipora, (militants) believed to be affiliated with LeT, barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat son of mohammad Subhan Bhat forcefully and started to beat the inmates.”.
Subsequently, the spokesman said, the militants abducted Abdul Gaffar and his son Manzoor Ahmad Bhat.
“However, Abdul Gaffar was successful to escape inspite of being fired upon, and sustaining injuries,” the spokesman said.
Abdul Gaffar has been hospitalized but his son was still with the militants. “A massive manhunt to trace the abducted person has been launched,” the spokesman said. A case into the matter under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation taken up, he added.
