Fake news: Police refutes ToI report ‘attack on tourists’ in Kashmir

Srinagar: Fake news just reached to news height when Times of India fell to it and that too by its own correspondent, claiming tourists were attacked by stone throwing in state. Jammu and Kashmir police tuesday refuted the news as no such even ever happened.

The news of tourists from other states and some indonesian tourists were attacked by stones was reported by ToI’s Salim Pandith, that tourists being injured in stone pelting at Dalgate area of Srinagar city and Awantipora.

“As per District police authorities Srinagar no such incident of stone pelting took place in that area yesterday as reported by the correspodent.Police investigation have also shown that no injuries to any body were reported from area,” police said.

Police further said that  ‘However two tourist got minor injuries on April 1.They were given first aid and discharged immediately.There has been no intended or designed attack on any Tourist. It was because the vehicles came in middle an area where pelting was going on.’

Police requested Media fraternity ‘to kindly verify such reports before publishing’.
