KU approached DGP to seek whereabouts of missing student, ask agitating students to keep ‘calm and cooperate’

Srinagar: Kashmir University has approached Director General of Police to ascertain whereabouts of the 2nd semester of Department of Earth Sciences missing since March 19, KU said.

“A 2nd semester student namely Sameer Ahmad Dar from the Department of Earth Sciences is reported missing from 19th March 2018, after leaving from his residence in Kakpora, Pulwama,” spokesman of the varsity said on Wednesday.

For the past three days, students on the campus are agitated to know the whereabouts of there colleague.

“The University has already written to the Director General of Police on March 24, requesting him to have the whereabouts of the student ascertained at an earliest. The offices of the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor have also been informed about the instant case,” spokesman said.

According to statement Vice Chancellor KU Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi talked to the ‘agitating students and informed them that the administration is equally concerned about the student’s whereabouts and a special team of officials is in touch with the police on a daily basis.’

“We request the agitating students to maintain calm and cooperate till the police ascertains the whereabouts of the student,” it said.
