Protests erupted post government’s order to commission additional deputy commissioners to the area who are demanding separate district status.

DC Rajouri was injured at Patel Chowk while he was trying to pacify the protesters.

“The bottle hit the helmet he was wearing,” sources said.

Police  resorted to tear gas shelling to quell the protestors who were persistently targeting police with stones.

Among the injured are four cops including a police officer and two journalists. The injured have been referred to medical facility. Joint Action Committee leading the protests have regretted the stone pelting.
