Srinagar: While hailing Pakistan for its unflinching support for Kashmir cause, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that country has been established on ideology instead of geography.
In a statement issued here, the octogenarian said that every Pakistani should realize their duty to safeguard its fundamentals and ideology.
Geelani asked Pakistan rulers to activate its embassies all over world and apprise world about Kashmir issue and “atrocities (of people of Kashmir) from occupied forces.”
Geelani asked ‘well-wishers’ to impress upon the World Body that the “repressive measures” adopted by the Indian Government in Kashmir had compelled the people of Kashmir to resist through peaceful means.
Geelani said authorities in state have crossed all limits with people and leadership caged and voices strangulate. “It is duty for people of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan to represent our aspiration, in every corner and in all world forums.”
Geelani also termed Pakistan as “centre of hope” of Muslims.
While greeting the Pakistan government, Pakistan Army and the people of Pakistan on the Pakistan Resolution Day, Geelani said that the country has a political importance in the Muslim world.
“This country is centre of hope not only for the Sub-continent but for the whole Muslim Ummah.”
A spokesman of the amalgam said Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner called Geelani on telephone and extended invitation for participation on Pakistan Day. “However Geelani while extending his greeting replied that he can’t attend because of health issues.”
Geelani while greeting people of Pakistan said that unparalleled sacrifices were presented for its creation.
He said that the “blessing day” of 23 March was such an important day when a resolution was passed for creation of separate nation for the Muslims some 77 years back and it was a dream realized when forces like Sangh Pariwar were opposing and spreading their venomous dogma against its creation.
“It was the time when this kind of thinking was considered as impossible and the fanatic communal forces were harshly opposing this move but the determination of the leadership succeeded in creation of a paradise like resort for those aspiring to see their dream come true,” said Geelani.
Creation of Pakistan has changed the discourse of history, Geelani said. “This is the only Muslim country in the world which openly supports the right to self-determination of Kashmiris and helps them on political, diplomatic and moral levels.” Geelani said that it was the reason that people of Kashmir are extremely thankful to them “for that they love and pray for its prosperity.”
Huriyat chairman in his appeal to people of Pakistan asked them to maintain peace and work for the prosperity of the nation and serve and respect minorities in the country. He stressed for cordial relation between Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan and said that best relation between these countries will lead the region to overall stability, peace, development and progress.
Geelani while laying stress on peaceful coexistence between different sects and ethnic groups, said: “it is our responsibility to safeguard minorities, their interests and improve cordial relations with Muslim countries.”
