Two Assistant Professors on Medical leave at GDC Pulwama work in gulf, have raised the issue say officials

Pulwama: Two assistant professors in Degree college Pulwama have been accused of ‘drawing salary’ from college while being on ‘medical leave’. The duo are allegedly working in the gulf, officials claim they have raised the issue with higher authorities.

Two assistant professors namely Rayees Ahmad shiekh s/o Abdul salam shiekh R/o uthroa and Jehangir ahmad RatherS/OGh Nabi Rather R/o chakora had joined degree colleague in  department of chemistry as assistant professors.

“They have been absent from past nine months from colleage and are working in Quwait  and Saudi Arabia,” sources in the college administration told INS.

According to sources the duo enjoy ‘some political patronage and are minting money in Gulf while ‘benefitting from government salary as well’.

Sources also confided that while one among the duo joined college in June another joined in August.

“They managed to get medical leave. They again joined on February 12 this year but again left,” sources said.

According to college sources  as the education institutes re opened after winter vacation the duo are ‘absconding and students are suffering’.

Another source in college administration told INS that ‘higher authorities had raised the query about the duo as well’ but ‘nothing is know as to what transpired afterwards’.

An official who wished not to be named confirmed that the college had received a communication from higher education on ‘Rayees Ahmad Rather’ first and after three days another query was raised against Jehangir Ahmad .

“The issue recently came to me and have raised it with higher authorities. Salary of only those months when they were in college has been released,” Principal degree colleague Pulwama Bashir Ahmad Mir said.

Mir however added that the duo are on Medical leave ‘that cannot be denied to them.’
