Khunmoh encounter: two militants killed, identified as locals, bodies handed over to parents

Srinagar: The two militants killed in an overnight gunfight with the government forces in Khonmoh area have been identified as Owais Ahmad of Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanzipora.

The police spokesman in a statement said that “the encounter which took place yesterday at Khunmoh area, the two militants who were killed have been identified by the families as Rasiq Nabi Bhat of Tral and Shabir Dar of Awantipora.”

As per police records, they had joined militancy last year in the month of March and August respectively.

“The dead bodies have been handed over to their legal heirs for last rites. Further investigation is going on,” the spokesman added.
