Srinagar: A youth was found dead on wheels of vehicle he was driving, little over 200 metres were army firing left three civilians and a militant dead at Pahloo in Shopian district of South Kashmir late Sunday evening. More than 12 hours after the incident, there was no statement by police with regard to the incident even as locals have out rightly rejected army claims.

Official sources said Gowhar Ahmad Lone (24) of Moolu Chatragund Trenz, who was pursuing MP.ED in Nagpur, was found dead on the wheels of a vehicle (Wagan-R) bearing registration JK01Q-1723). He had four bulletwounds.

Reports said that massive protests rocked the Shopian throughout the night. Sources said that police has taken the body in its custody and presently medical and legal formalities are underway.

The police late on Sunday evening handed over bodies of three civilian—Suhail Ahmad Wagay (22) son Khalid Ahmad Wagay of Pinjora, Shahid Khan (21) son of Bashir Khan of Malik Gund and Shahnawaz Wagay (23) son of  Ali Mohammad of Moolu, Trenz and militant Amir Ahmed Malik son of Bashir Ahmed Malik of Harmain to their legal heirs for last rites.

The Joint Resistance Leadership has already called for strike in Kashmir Valley against the killing of youths by army.

“Mayhem in #Shopian! #Army shoots dead three youth Suhail Wagay,Shahid Khan,Shahnawaz Wagay all civilians travelling in a car.JRL& the people of Kashmir strongly condemn this brutality of the forces &to express deep resentment & anger will observe a complete #strike tomorrow (Monday),” Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tweeted.

Army’s Srinagar based defence ministry said that militants attacked army’s 44 RR party at Pahnoo village at around 20:00 hours. He said the fire was retaliated triggering off a gunfight. “Body of the militant was recovered along with a weapon,” he said, adding, “Three OGWs accompanying the militant in a car were also found dead.” The spokesman said that police has reached the spot and started legal formalities.
