JAMMU: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Wednesday reviewed the progress of the 330-MW Kishanganga HEP being constructed in Gurez area of Bandipora district, which has reached its final stages of commissioning.

The 330MW Kishanganga HEP envisages diversion of river Kishanganga from Gurez valley into an underground powerhouse with 3 units of 110MW each and discharging the tail water in Wullar Lake.

Commissioner/Secretary Revenue, Secretary PHE and I&FC, MD JKSPDC and other senior officers were present. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, DC Bandipora, Chief Engineer, I&FC and NHPC Authorities participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

The implementation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Plan of the Project Affected families was discussed in the meeting besides progress of work on the treatment of Madhumati and Bonar Nallah to improve its discharge capacity and to protect the Nallah boundaries against high discharge was also reviewed.
