Govt forms panels on development, up-gradation of parks in twin capitals

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday constituted State Level Steering Committee and Divisional Level committee for improvement and up-gradation of parks and gardens in Jammu and Srinagar cities.
Headed by Chief Secretary, the SLSC comprises of five-members while director divisional level committees, eight members each, would be headed by respective floriculture directors of Jammu and Kashmir.
The SLSC has been tasked review and monitor the progress for the development and upgradationof parks and gardens in Jammu and Srinagar cities; suggest well consider mechanism for flow of funds to fill gaps in providing of infrastructure or to be provided to the parks and gardens; ensure providing of adequate infrastructure to the parks and gardens in both the cities; devise strategy for green field development in both the cities under the provisions of Smart City Mission; take quarterly review with the line departments for upholding Urban Green Space Standards and and finalize draft action plan on augmentation of green space.
Similarly, diviaional level committees have been asked to work out modalities for maintenance of gardens and parks in the cities; identify gaps, if any, in providing of infrastructure or to be provided to the gardens and parks as are being maintained by the Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Department; submit its progress report quarterly to the SLSC; prepare basic papers on improvement/up-gradation of parks and gardens in Jammu/Srinagar cities for consideration of the
SLSC and monitor and supervise the works on ground for the development and maintenance of parks and gardens in the cities.
