Srinagar: Rejecting any compensation from government as well as Hurriyat Conference, the pellet victims on Monday said they will only seek help from general public.
“We need compensation neither from government nor Hurriyat,” the pellet victims, who had assembled at press enclave here, told reporters.
“We prefer help from people than begging before the government,” they added.
“Nobody is working for us, no one is helping us. We have started our own NGO and will seek help from the general public instead of roaming from pillar to post in government departments with begging bowl,” the victims said.
They said the need to create a Trust arose as “many organisations till date had been exploiting the pellet victims”.
They said the Trust has members from all the districts of Kashmir and have appealed people of Kashmir to help them. “Those who want to help us should come forward. Whosoever wants to help can contact us; we will provide them our account numbers.”
The victims while narrating their plight urged the government to ban the use of pellet guns, as “it destroys one’s everything”.
“For any information about our Trust, one can contact on the number 9622688779,” the pellet victims said.
