Kupwara: Ahead of their anniversaries, the graffiti of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru have surfaced at various places in this north Kashmir’s frontier district.
Maqbool Bhat, a founding member of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) was hanged on 11 February 1984 and Afzal Guru was send to gallows on 9 February 2013. Both were hanged in Tihar Jail, Delhi and are buried inside the jail premises. Kashmiris continue to demand the mortal remains of Bhat and Guru.
Residents of Trehgam, Maqbool Bhat’s native village, and other parts of the district are visiting Bhat’s family to pay homage and express solidarity with the family.
