Jammu: Assuring full support to government in stopping violence in Kashmir, National Conference Working president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the unabated killings in Kashmir should stop.
While taking part in a discussion in the assembly, Omar while referring to the killings of two youths in Shopian by army said the continuous cycle of killings must end.
“We don’t want to play politics over it. We all have to end this bloodshed,” Omar said.
He said when FIR is registered with regard to Shopian killings, “then why magisterial inquiry?”
“Every day, newspapers are filled with stories of killings. Much innocent lives have been lost. NC is ready to support you (government) in any measures taken to stop the continuous killings,” Omar said.
Omar said Kashmir being the Muslim majority state has much significance in contemporary world politics. “Whatever happens in the world impacts Kashmir also; we want stability in the state. This violence has to stop,” he said.
