Shopian: A complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama districts on Thursday against the killing of 17-year-old civilian in alleged forces action and to mourn the casualty of two militants on Wednesday
Two militants Sameer Ahmad Wani of Odoo and Firdous Ahmad of Ganawpora, Shopian, were killed in an encounter with government forces.
A 17-year-old boy Shakir Ahmad Mir resident of Qalampora village of this district was also killed in while two girls, one of them a sister of slain militant Sameer Ahmad Wani, was injured. Police said the teen was killed and the girls injured in cross firing.
The authorities have also suspended train service, to and fro, Srinagar to Banihal in view of the apprehension of protests in the areas through which the rail chugs. The authorities have also snapped internet services in the twin districts in a bid to prevent protests.
