Srinagar:  The youth whose death defying rail stunt video took social media by storm has apologised after he was arrested.
He called his stunt ‘stupid act’ and urged people and police to forgive him while avowing no to repeat it again in future.
“I apologize to all people who commented or shared my stupid stunt which I did yesterday. I don’t know how to explain how much ashamed I feel at this time. I’m appealing people plz plz (please, please) forgive me and I wouldn’t repeat it again,” says Adil, a resident Bijbhera in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. “I just want to tell the police Plz forgive for my stupid stunt,” Adil adds.
Earlier, a purported video in which Adil is seen lying on a railway track while a speeding train passes over him, went viral on social media with netizens calling for strict action against him.
The video, which emerged on social media late Tuesday evening, shows the pheran-clad Adil lying face down in the middle of the track as the train passed over him.
After the stunt, he then makes out a celebratory shout to his friend who recorded the video.
Later Adil was arrested.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also called out the “stupidity” of the act, underling “something drastically wrong with this sort of adventure seeking.”
“I can’t believe the stupidity of these young men,” Omar tweeted.
“Arresting him isn’t the solution. He should be counselled & let off with a stern warning. Our prisons are too full of young men as it is & stupidity isn’t a crime.”
