Srinagar: As Kashmir Valley has been turned into virtual garrison ahead of January 26, the opposition National Conference on Tuesday staged walkout from the Legislative Assembly. Members of Congress party protested against cross border and LoC firing in Jammu district.
As the House assembled for day’s business, members of the opposition National Conference protested and accused the government of turning of Kashmir into a “prison” ahead of January 26.
They said people have been subjected to ‘harassment’ by the government forces.
Party’s general secretary and MLA Khaniyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar said: “Kashmir has been turned into a prison.” He also questioned the government for subjecting the people to harassment.
He said that people have been virtually confined to homes and are not being allowed to come out of in Kashmir.
The Congress also staged walkout to protest over the death of civilians in cross-border shelling while members of ruling coalition partners, BJP, shouted anti-Pakistan slogans.
