Srinagar: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday said while India “rightly” asks UK to apologise for Jalianwala Bagh massacre, “when will we get justice” in Sopore massacre?
Taking to twitter, Mirwaiz wrote, “As India rightly asks UK to apologise for the brutal #JalianWalaBaghMassacre,we in #Kashmir today are commemorating 25 years of one of the scores of such massacres that we have suffered.The #SoporeMayhem when 57 civilians were brutally killed in cold blood by the Indian forces…”
“and property including 120 houses and 400 shops burnt down by them and none of the perpetrators held accountable.When will we get justice we ask?” Hurriyat (M) chairman said in another tweet.
57 civilians were killed in firing by Border Security Force (BSF) men on January 6, 1993. Several houses and the entire market were also set on fire.
