Dr Ahanger ‘relieved’, Kotwal gets additional charge of Director SKIMS

Srinagar: The state government on Saturday ordered that Dr. Pawan Kotwal (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government, Health & Medical Education Department, to discharge the functions of the post of Director SKIMS in addition to his own duties, till further orders.
“As approved by the Competent Authority and as an interim measure, Dr. A.G. Ahanger, Director, SKIMS and Ex-offino Secretary to Government, is relieved of the duties of the post with immediate effect. He shall report to the General Administration Department,” reads an order issued by the government.
As already reported, the Government ordered suspension of three senior faculty members of SKIMS, Soura and their immediate attachment with the office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
According to a separate government order, Prof.(Dr.) Altaf Kirmani, Dean & Head, Department of General Surgery; Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of Neurology and Dr. Wajid Ali, Head, Department of Neonatology, SKIMS, Soura have been placed under suspension for violating norms of not practicing while serving the SKIMS.
“This follows complaints of private practice by these three doctors despite drawing Non Practicing Allowance by them.”
