Alert issued as CRPF SUV with JK licence plate stolen in Delhi

SRINAGAR, AUG 4 :- A convoy of Indian police vehicles patrol on the sixth consecutive day of a curfew in Srinagar August 4, 2010. Kashmiri separatist leaders have appealed for calm in the biggest anti-India protests in two years that have killed dozens of people and raised fears that anger at New Delhi was spinning out of control. At least four people died on Tuesday in fresh clashes with police, raising the death toll of seven weeks of protests to 43. REUTERS/UNI PHOTO-24R

New Delhi: An alert has been sounded by security agencies after an SUV with a “JK” number plate belonging to the CRPF was stolen from outside the force’s camp last month, official sources said.
The warning by agencies has been issued against the misuse of the vehicle by militants on January 26, the Republic Day.
Official sources said a white Sumo Victa of the Central Reserve Police Force having the official number plate ‘JK 02A W5441’ was stolen from outside a camp of the force in R K Puram area on the intervening night of December 29-30.
