Srinagar: People are complaining against the medical stores for “forcibly” issuing medicines more than prescribed by doctors.
Deploring the “unruly behavior” by pharmacists, people rue that the medical stores have become money minting machines.
“They don’t even bother to give some sound reason,” people complained and demanded strict action against those medical shops involved in such practices.
“Such unsympathetic attitude against even poor patients is bringing a bad name to the medicine profession,” they said.
When raised the issue before a prominent medical store owner, he said the case is not with all the medicines but “just few” which have “very short” expiry dates.
“We understand the people’s complaints but our concern also needs to be taken care of. There are some medicines which have very short expiry date and if we unseal or cut just few tablets from those, the distributors won’t accept the remaining part. That is the reason,” the pharmacist told INS.
When contacted, the Deputy Drug Controller Irfana Ahmad told INS that people should complain against such medical stores and strict action as per law will be taken against those involved.
