Srinagar: The joint resistance leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, has called for shutdown on January 6 in north Kashmir’s Sopore town in view of the 1993 Sopore massacre.
The JRL urged people to march towards Sopore after Zuhr prayers on the day.
At least 55 civilians were killed by Border Security Forces (BSF) on 6 January 1993 after militants ambushed a BSF patrol in the town.
