Srinagar: Police on Wednesday afternoon detained the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik from his Abi Guzar office here.
He was shifted to Central Jail Srinagar, sources said.
Earlier in the day, authorities placed the chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his Nigeen residence.
Several leaders of Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat were also detained on early Tuesday, reports said.
The detention of Hurriyat (G) leaders comes ahead of the seminar ‘Kashmir conflict and right to self-determination’ scheduled to be held on Thursday at conglomerate’s Hyderpora headquarters.
