Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday placed the chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
Mirwaiz was scheduled to deliver a sermon at the shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) popularly known as Dastgeer Sahib (RA), in Khanyat area of Srinagar.
“Another gag ! Now on religious preaching. Again put under #HouseArrest to prevent me from addressing decades old traditional majlis-e-waz o tableeg at Dastgeer Sb Khanyar. Greatly pained ! Pray to Almighty Allah to deliver us from this yoke of sufferings and subjugation” Mirwaiz tweeted.
