Sopore Dec 27: Scores of employees at the sub-district hospital Sopore staged protest demonstration on Wednesday, denouncing the allegations of funds embezzlement against their colleague as “baseless”.
A video went viral on social media recently alleging an employee of HDF, sub-district hospital Shopore, Irshad Ahmed had embezzled government funds to the tune of Rs 1.41 crore.
Terming the video as an “inhuman act”, the protesting employees said Irshad is being “targeted” and is not involved in any kind of fraud. “This is a character assassination,” they said.
“A team was conducted the chief medical officer, Baramulla, to probe the matter and after a proper investigation, all the allegations were found baseless,” president HDF employees Ghulam Mohammad told INS.
“How can someone post such kind of allegation without proper confirmation?” Mohammad added. “This proves there is a vested interest behind the move and is a personal attack.”
Ghulam appealed to higher authorities to look into the matter and demanded strict action against the person who posted “wrong information” on social media.
The branch medical officer of sub-district hospital, Sopore, Dr Sami also termed the move as “inhuman act” and rejected the allegations as “baseless”.
