Srinagar: A 14-years-old boy from Yachigam area of central Kashmir District Budgam has brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by winning Silver medal in 21st National JEET KUNE DO (JKD) Championship held at New Delhi.
Aqib Jabbar Bhat was sponsored by SPACE Communications, J&K Based event Management Company for the championship.
In conversation with INS, Aqib said: “I feel very emotional right now but I just want to convey thanks from the core of my heart to SPACE Communications and Amit sir for fulfilling my dream of winning a medal in national championship. I now plan to practice for International championship coming in 2018 at Bangkok. I also thank my teachers Asif and Bilal sir for training me.”
Labourer by profession, father of the boy, Mohammad Jabbar Bhat said: “I have been observing him right from the age of four years and knew that he has got talent for something different. I know one thing that economically we could not support him much but prayers of our elders and others have blessed him.”
Aqib’s sister Ishrat also thanked SPACE Communications and in particular Dr. Amit Wanchoo, who recognized his talent, “showed us the way and sponsored him.”
“Aqib has not only shined for us but for the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir and Country. We dedicate this award to Dr. Wanchoo and thank him for supporting us,” she said.
Since early childhood Aqib has been a whiz kid innovating techniques and skills. He never let difficulties stop him from his goal. As per his family members, Aqib is a diehard Bruce Lee Fan who has founded JEET KUNE DO (JKD). He wants to become the Bruce Lee of India and was sure that one day he will achieve his goal. Aqib has been trained in JEET KUNE Do and he gives full credit to his teachers who guided and supported him always.
Dr. Amit Wanchoo, Founder & CEO SPACE Communications happily commented: “Aqib is a very talented child and at SPACE we believe that it is our responsibility to support talented youngsters and channelize their energy for bringing in more positivity to J&K. I met him and his family at my office. I could see the light in the eyes of this boy while he was summarizing about the sport and equally hats off to his family who have supported him. We congratulate him for making all of us proud.”
Aqib wants to convey message to youngsters who are preparing to achieve their goal in various fields of life.
“I think everyone is afraid of losing but I would like to say that never think of losing always focus on winning. Best fighter is the one who wins the fight even after losing. Later even if we fail that failure in itself gives us lot of learning and lessons which help us in finally achieving success.”
