Restrictions in Srinagar parts to prevent protests; rail service suspended

9SRNP1: SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 9 (UNI) Security personnel keeping vigil during curfew-like restrictions at Mirwaiz Manzil in down town Srinagar on Thursday.

Srinagar: Restrictions remain imposed in parts of Srinagar city as Joint Resistance Leadership has called protests post the Friday prayers against civilian killings by government forces.
Hurriyat (M) chairman and chief cleric Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, has been placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence, while as Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani is undergoing house detention since 2010.
Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R.Gunj and Safa Kadal in the old city areas while partial restrictions remain imposed in Maisuma and Kralkhud.
