Srinagar: A shutdown was being observed in Kashmir today on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the human rights violations occurring in the valley.
The government has imposed strict restrictions in parts of Srinagar even as JRL has vowed to submit a memorandum with the office bearers of UNMOGIP at Sonwar here.
Public transport is off the roads while as business establishments are closed.
The government has detained Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, at his Hyderpora home while as his deputy Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was placed under house arrest at Baghat.
Senior resistance leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was detained in his Nigeen residence since last Thursday evening.
Part of JRL, Mohammad Yasin Malik, has gone in to hiding on Friday to lead the protests today.
