Ganderbal: Tourist resort Sonamarg in District Ganderbal and upper reaches including Zojila Pass, Zero Point, Thajiwas glacier received fresh snowfall on Thursday.

Reports said Sonamarg and adjacent areas have been receiving fresh spell of snow since Wednesday afternoon.

Reports further added that 434-km long Srinagar-Leh highway connecting the Ladakh region with Kashmir valley has been suspended for vehicular traffic due to fresh spell of snowfall and slippery road conditions.

Hundreds of vehicles are stranded at Sonamarg. Traffic official said that Sonamarg-Zojila-Drass portion of Srinagar-Leh highway recorded fresh snowfall since Wednesday afternoon.

No vehicle was allowed on the highway as a precautionary measure and the road is slippery condition they added.

They also said that Beacon is clearing the road and the road will be thrown open for traffic soon.
