The night temperature in Srinagar was four degrees below normal during this time of the season, a meteorological official told INS, indicating further fall in the mercury due to dry weather.
“It’s going to be fairly cold for the next few days and it will be colder on Tuesday night as temperature may drop to as low as -4C due to the clear skies.”
The MET official said Leh town in frontier region of Ladakh was the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 12C.
Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir was the coldest recorded place in the Valley with a low of minus 4.1 C, the official said.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a low of minus 3.C.
The highway town of Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.8C, while the night temperature in neighbouring Kokernag and north Kashmir Kupwara settled at minus 0.9C and minus 2.8C respectively.
The weatherman has already predicted dry weather for this week in state.
