Pakherpora gunfight: Three militants killed, internet services suspended

Srinagar: : Three militants have been killed in an ongoing operation at Fotlipora village in Pakherpora of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday, Army said.

An official spokesman said the firing between militants and security forces took place at Futlipora, Pakharpora of Budgam district.

“Firing was on in the area. We suspect two militants in the area,” said a police official.

Mobile Internet service was snapped in parts of central Kashmir’s Budgam on Thursday after a gunfight broke out in Pakherpora area of the district.

An official said that the service was snapped “as a precautionary measure” to prevent any protests.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Sinar Ahmad Mir shot on face by forces in Futlipora Pakherpora of Budgam fired live ammunition to disperse the protesters near the gunfight site at Futlipora village in Pakerpora area of Budgam district on Thursday, local sources said.
Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near the encounter site soon after the gunfight stared.
Sources said that a youth was hit with bullet fired by the forces. The injured was shifted to the nearby hospital.
