Baramulla: A RTI activist has demanded a through probe into over 800 ‘suspected transactions’ through Block Medical Officer CHC Sopore and Medical Superintendent District Hospital Baramulla.

“Almost 832 suspected transactions have been done, worth of Rs 47 million. They must be thoroughly investigated,” said Siraj ud din Salam, the RTI activist.

Salam’s claims are based on “analysis of the RTI information” received by him. Salam says he has already moved application to government to launch an inquiry into “shady” working of the concerned medical officers.

Among others, Salam has shot letters to Director Vigilance, Principal Secretary to Government Health & Medical Education, Director Health Services Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.

He has alleged that government money has been ‘looted’ by creating “fake and unregistered firms”. He has even named a few firms in his letter.

“By these firms lot of hospital funds has been grabbed from last five years, and heavy amount has been transferred to these supra firms, all the tendering rules has been bypassed and Ignored like Registration of labour department, Registration of ESI & EPF 80G registration, PAN no of Firm and income tax Clearance etc (sic).”

Crores of rupees, he says, has been transferred to different firms as bogus payment from Hospital development fund (HDF) accounts, and all most all the purchasing has been done without tendering to give benefit to the fake companies.

“Why the outsource sanitation has been given to an unregistered firm and having only Jammu and Kashmir shops and establishment Act registration certificate dated 12/06/2017 (RTI Submission date 12/05/2017) which is only for selling Building material at Tangmarg and having only 3 employees. So how is he eligible for hospital sanitation, Laundry, Housekeeping etc.? Why all the basic eligibilities for contract have been ignored?” Salam has said in the letter.
