Srinagar: Opposition National Conference on Monday said that crackdown encompassing bigger areas than 1990s, when militancy was at its peak, are carried contemporarily in Kashmir Valley and it has been named CASO (cordon-and-search-operation) to mislead the public opinion.
In a statement, party’s Additional General Secretary Dr Mustafa Kamal said that due to the non-resolution of Kashmir, people continue to suffer. “People are being killed; plight of prisoners in jails is bad, atrocities are unabated and nocturnal raids continue,” he said, adding, “crackdown encompassing bigger areas than 1990s are carried presently and in order mislead public opinion, it is named CASO.”
He said that ruling PDP-BJP government has proved to be “anti-people” while Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti “is busy with photo session by touring various districts.”
Kamaal also asked Government of India that if it was sincere, reports and recommendations of the interlocutors appointed in past shall be acted upon.
“Interlocution is not kid’s play. Making pedestrians, new parties and so-called organisations or deputations’ part of dialogue process is aimed to create confusion and is not aimed at finding resolution to real issue.”
