Baramula: Residents of Kunzer in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the acute water shortage in the area and poor power supply.

A large number of residents of the village particularly women and children on Monday  hit the roads and shouted slogans against PHE department for failed to provide them regular water supply and for ignoring their sufferings in the absence of proper water supply.

Residents while talking to INS said that to deal with water shortage during in winters is a difficult task. Most of the times our women flock have to travel to a larger distance for obtaining portable drinking water.

Scores of people took to Srinagar-Gulmarg road and raised slogans in favour of their demands.

The protesters blocked traffic for some time on the highway and later dispersed off peacefully.

Meanwhile Tehsildar and police party reached the spot and assured the locals will solve this issue soon
