Srinagar, Nov 14: Rail service has been suspended for “security reasons”in north Kashmir, where two local militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday evening.
However, trains continued to chug from Budgam-Srinagar to Anantnag and Qazigund to Banihal, a senior railway official said.
All trains on this route are running as per schedule, he added.
An advisory was received from police on Monday night to suspend rail service in north Kashmir, he said, adding that“’we are acting on the advice of civil and police authorities.”
