Sumbal: The residents of Sumbal  and adjoining areas staged a protest against the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE) over non-availability of drinking water in sumbal area of North Kashmir’s bandipora district.
The protesters including women and children blocked the Bandipora –Srinagar road  at Sumbal Bridge and vehicular movement was disrupted on the road.
The protesters were demanding restoration of the water supply in the area which according to them has been ‘blocked for several Days’ .
“We have no drinking water for past several days . The department has turned a blind eye towards the problems being faced by people due to non-availability of drinking water”, a protester said .
Later a police team reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up the issue with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
