Srinagar: Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, was tear gassed after protests over arrest of a varsity student erupted on Wednesday.

According to witnesses tear smoke filled campus after many canisters landed inside the premises.

Students early today had marched upto the highway demanding release of a student who has been arrested by police.

“ At least two girl students felt unconscious and were shifted to hospital,” witnesses said.

Junaid Akhoon a student in polytechnic college of IUST was arrested by police at his home in Aarampora village of Awantipora tehsil some days before, students of the varsity told INS
