Srinagar: A shutdown is being observed for the second consecutive day in Maisuma area, after braid of a woman was cut yesterday.
Violent clashes had broken out in the area following the incident.
All shops and business establishments are closed in the area while the roads present a deserted look.
Earlier clashes erupted in Rambagh area after braid of a woman was chopped off by unknown persons on Tuesday. Youth took to streets and blocked the area hampering the movement of traffic in the area. Police used teargas shells to disperse the protesters.
There have been more than 100 incidents of braid chopping during the past  one month but police have failed to arrest a single culprit so far.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan had yesterday stated during a presser that police will go for scientific investigation into the incidents of braid chopping but denied cooperation from the victims so far.
