Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Muneer Khan Monday said that small groups of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JEM) militants ‘are active and operating in South, North as well as central Kashmir’.

“Small groups JeM militants are active and operating in north, south and central Kashmir,” Khan said.

Kashmir Police Chief was speaking to INS on the sidelines of a presser claiming to have arrested three militants from South Kashmir during the past three days.

While Khan ruled out any Lie detection tests to be conducted on the victims of braid chopping incidents, he however said that, ‘scientific investigations’ on ‘spray being used to knock the victims unconscious has been initiated’.

“Only scientific examination of the victim which includes testing of the blood sample would be done which would help in the investigations,” Khan said.

He however decried ‘non cooperation’ by the victims that ‘would help police in its investigation’, but added that ‘hopefully’ they will crack the mystery ‘soon’.

According to Khan braid chopping incidents have also  hampered the  anti-millitancy operations to a certain extent ‘as people remain out on the roads during the night to keep a vigil’.
