Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday said that frequent encounters, resulting in the killing of youth, was a matter of serious concern for people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We are a peaceful nation. Frequent incidents of encounters resulting into the martyrdom of youth, is a matter of serious concern for us,” the octogenarian leader said while paying rich tributes to militants who were killed in Hajan gunfight.
“The youth are sacrificing their precious lives for a greater cause to serve nation and we are duty-bound to carry their mission to its logical conclusion.”
He said in last three decades, people of Kashmir have presented huge sacrifices for right to ‘self-determination.’
“New Delhi with its military might brutally killed thousands and is carrying assault on women’s modesty and dignity in state.”
He said India has declared a war against innocent people while as international community instead of taking any serious of note was acting as mute spectator.
Reiterating his stand, Geelani said that no sane person can ever like and favour loss of human lives, “however in a state of its arrogance India, neither takes into consideration the interests of its people nor they have any sympathy with people of state. This situation is painful both for people in India and Jammu and Kashmir.”
Geelani asked authorities to shun its “stale thinking” and urged to demonstrate mature and sensible approach for the resolution of conflict.
