Srinagar: Clashes erupted in Firdousabad  Battamaloo of Srinagar district on Sunday morning.

Protests erupted in the area after alleged braid chopping incident.

Clashes have spread to the tengpora area and were going on.

Police had to use tear gas to disperse protestors, eye witnesses said.

Official confirmation of the braid cutting is awaited.
